Call for Applications

The Owens Institute for Behavioral Research (OIBR) is soliciting applications for our 2024-2026 Grant Development Program. The program targets faculty members of any rank who are working in the social and behavioral sciences at UGA who have not previously received major extramural support to pursue their research. The program prepares participants to compete successfully for major research grants from extramural sources. It is 2 years in duration, and participants are expected to submit at least one research proposal for extramural funding through OIBR during that time.

Participation in this program originates with the faculty member interested in joining the program. The application process includes: (1) an approval form signed by the Department Head (solicited by the faculty member), (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) an overview of the applicant’s primary research agenda. In the overview, please include: a) brief summary of the applicant’s area and focus (1/2 page), b) brief description of the research project that would be the basis of the grant proposal to be developed (1/2 page), and c) one or more potential funding sources for an extramural application, if known.

An OIBR committee will review applications to the program. Interested faculty members are selected based on their potential to develop the skills to successfully pursue extramural grant funding for research projects in the social and behavioral sciences. Potential is gauged both in terms of an existing track record of publications and a potentially fundable area of interest.

More detailed information on the OIBR Grant Development Program is attached to this email message as well as the department head approval form to be included with the application.

Applications are due MAY 1, 2024. All materials must be submitted as one application packet via email to the Assistant Director, Kim Cherewick (ksilvis@uga.edu).
