2026 Rising Star Announced

Headshot of Niyantri Ravindran

Congratulations to Niyantri Ravindran, our 2026 OIBR Rising Star Award winner!

Dr. Ravindran is an Assistant Professor of Human Development and Family Science. Her research centers on the dynamics between children and their caregivers and how moment to moment interactions can shape development. Her groundbreaking research uncovered evidence that maternal emotion and stress regulation are especially impactful while the child is in distress and are more significant among toddlers than infants. Many of her projects employ innovative methods, such as wearable sensors and vocal data, to record everyday interactions while preserving their authenticity.

During her career, she has secured competitive grant support from the National Science Foundation, the Society for Research in Child Development, and the Mental Research Institute. Her work has been published in major journals such as Developmental Psychology and Child Development. She also served as a consulting editor for many leading journals, an editorial fellowship at the Journal of Family Psychology, and co-chair for the Society for Research in Child Development.

We are grateful for all the work she has done and are excited to see what she accomplishes next!
